No More Home-Alone, Now We Are Partiers!

             Have you ever been to a big fancy party in Korea? Many of you will answer “no”. This is because it has not been that old since the party culture was introduced in Korea. Despite of this short history, party culture is becoming familiar to the young generation. So if you do not want to be left behind the fashion, you should know a few things about Korea’s party culture. I want to introduce how Korea’s parties are special, based on my experience: Korean parties have specific dress codes, various drinks, and also special events during the party.

           First of all, Korea’s parties have special dress codes. When the dress code is specified, people can enjoy the fun of picking the perfect outfit that fits the dress code. Also, they can feel connected to other people because they are sharing same outfits. The dress code could be a specific color such as black and white, or a concept like school-look or else. When I went to a Christmas party the dress code was red. When I arrived, everybody was wearing all kinds of red costumes. Even though they were all red, every outfit was beautiful in its own way. This gives you a special feeling that you are all together with others, even though they are total strangers.

           In addition, Korea’s party culture cannot be explained without referring to the drinks. Many people misunderstand that parties are getting soaked with drink and enjoying loud music under dark lights. However, since now the party culture is quite settled, many people are seeking for the way they could really enjoy the party. They try to get to know different people or maybe find someone special. Instead of the ordinary drinks that will get you drunk, there are various drinks including cocktails popular in Korea.

           Last but not least, Korea’s parties hold several events during the party. For instance, there are counting-down at the midnight of Christmas parties. Everyone shouts out “Merry Christmas” to each other when it turns midnight, whether they know each other or not. Also, there are events that give out people coupons at the entrance and later announce who gets the special prize. These kinds of events helps\ people to stay awake, and also become closer to others.

           I have introduced you to the special parties held in Korea. They are quite interesting because of the unique dress code, variety of tasty drinks, and also fun events. Until when are you going to stay home alone on Christmas? Join me next year and I promise we will have a great time!
