Benefits of learning foreign languages

Nowadays, learning a foreign language has become a daily issue of our generation. Some regard it as an unnecessary burden compelled by the schools or governments. But if they think deeply for a while, I'm sure the benefits of learning foreign languages will change their attitudes. Learning foreign languages has advantages of brain development, economic aspects and cultural awareness.

Learning a foreign language means coming into contact with a new thing in the world. As we all know, the brain develops by keeping studying. I've read an article which points out that foreign languages help make better decision. To put it in details, when people use foreign languages, their decisions tend to be less biased, more analytical, more systematical, because foreign languages keep psychological distance. It also states creatively that cognitive biases are rotted in emotional reactions, and foreign languages help us disconnect from these emotions and make decisions in a more economically rational way. Personally, speaking more than one language can lead to better development of the area in the brain that handles executive functions and attention tasks.

You must me interested in learning foreign languages if I tell you it helps get you earn more. One study finds that the earning bonus for an American who learns a foreign language is 2%. If you make $30,000 a year, that's $600. But don't low-ball it. Think of it, if the 2% average bonus returns over 40 years, it turns to an extra $67,000 in your retirement account. If you a person who wants to be the employer not the employee, speaking foreign language is a skill can help you open a international business. Doing international business definitely make you distinguished from others and can get you a much bigger market as well as reduce the competition in the some industry.

Finally, learning foreign languages also gives us some cultural awareness. A thing I learned from foreign language class is that American high school students only take class for half of the day, but we Chinese as well as Korean should study from morning to afternoon, even ask us to study in the evening at school. But what we study is to prepare for exams. I didn't realize the weakness in our education systems until I've take that class. I think there is absolutely something else we should learn and enjoy in the life besides study. They don't classify students by grades. In their opinions, each one has a strong point which is better then others. This culture shows the real meaning of faith and helps develop the confidence of everyone.

Learning foreign languages gives this much of benefits! What are you waiting for?

    5. The conclusion doesn't restate the causes :

Your writing work is well-organized except the conclusion part. It would be better to clearly restate the effects of learning foregn languages in conclusion so as to stress your point again. :)

Your essay was very well structured, but it would have had more impact if there was a full conclusion.
